Research Before You Renovate.

About HomeProjectBase

HomeProjectBase is a research-first home improvement and repair resource. We help homeowners choose the right tool, material or piece of equipment for a specific project, and sort out the problems that come up once the work is underway.

Every guide starts with one question: what does a homeowner actually need to know to make this decision well?

Our story

Buying for a home project is harder than it should be. Search for “best water heater” or “snow blower vs snow thrower” and you get pages of lists that rank everything, explain nothing, and rarely say who a product is wrong for.

HomeProjectBase launched in August 2026 to fix that. Our guides compare options side by side, explain the specs that matter for your situation, and are clear about trade-offs like upfront cost versus running cost, capacity versus space, and DIY install versus hiring a pro.

HomeProjectBase is independently owned and operated. No manufacturer, retailer or investor has a say in what we publish.

Who’s behind our guides

Neil Nadder

Head of Research & Editorial

Neil leads research and editorial at HomeProjectBase. He brings more than 10 years of experience in the home improvement industry, and he knows which products hold up and which don’t once they’re in real homes.

He researches every category we cover, from power tools and lawn equipment to water heaters, air purifiers and garage storage. He compares specifications, warranty terms, owner feedback and long-term reliability, then turns that into clear buying guides and comparisons that help homeowners spend their money once, on the right thing.

How we research

Our recommendations come from structured research, not from which brand pays the most. For every buying guide and comparison, we:

  1. Define who the guide is forThe home size, budget, climate or skill level the decision depends on.
  2. Compare the specs that matterSpecifications, warranty terms and running costs from manufacturer documentation.
  3. Read verified owner reviewsTo find recurring problems that spec sheets don’t show.
  4. Check installation and safetyAnd say clearly when a job needs a licensed pro.
  5. Keep guides currentWe review and update guides when models, prices or standards change.

We don’t currently test products hands-on. Our guides are research-based comparisons, and we tell you that upfront.

How we make money

HomeProjectBase is free to read. When you buy through some links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Commissions never decide what we recommend. A product doesn’t rank higher because it pays more, and we include options we don’t earn from when they’re the better choice. Brands can’t pay for placement or review our articles before publication.

See our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy for details.
